Year of the Tiger
2010 marks the year of the Tiger and that is very appropriate for the ISSA.
We've got big things coming soon. in the next few days we'll announce some very exciting news. Something we've been waiting on and working towards for a very long time.
I think it's pretty easy to imagine that the year of the Tiger is the year to leap into action. The Tiger takes chances and makes change. It's a proactive beast that gets things done.
On February 14 we will leave the year of the Ox. The Ox symbolizes hard work and preparation. It's definitely been that.
ISSA on Facebook
Just recently started a facebook fan page for the ISSA. How about becoming a fan. Then, then of course, suggest it to your friends

Valley Springs Citizens of the Year
Well I feel really strange tooting my own horn here but
Liz and Phil Weaver voted Valley Springs Citizens of the Year. Read about it on the Pine Tree
and the Calaveras Enterprise
Quite a surprise and quite an honor. Liz and I felt very special being among the other nominees as we have a great deal of respect for each of them.
Hallway Conversations
One of the things I love are the short little hallway conversations where students connect. Normally I'm not a part of them but seem to catch just the tail end. And that's the way I like it.
They are great because they really give little clues as to what's going on in the new students mind and they are often very funny from my perspective.
So last night I ran into one between two new students. One of the students has twenty some years in the martial arts but just started Shou' Shu' a few weeks ago. The other is completely new to martial arts entirely.

This is kind of cool. When I looked at the front page of the Stockton Record website we were there. This article was in the Stockton Record today.

Bullying
Recently I was asked by a reporter to write about my experience with teaching kids with bullying problems. I thought I'd also post what I wrote to her here in case it can help someone.
